I Almost Went Back to Daejeon for This Knit. Then I Found It on YOOX.

The season is almost over, but this is one find I really wanted to write about. If you've ever lost sleep over a piece you walked away from, you'll understand. πŸ˜‚

The ₩680,000 knit I left behind

A few months ago, I went to the Hyundai Premium Outlet in Daejeon to look at Fabiana Filippi. A summer knit from a fairly recent season caught my eye. The price: ₩680,000.

That felt like a lot, even for an outlet, so I let it go. And then of course I couldn't stop thinking about it.

I searched everywhere online and found nothing. I was honestly asking myself, "Do I really have to go back to Daejeon for this?"

Found on YOOX, hiding behind a terrible photo

Then one day I was browsing YOOX and saw a Fabiana Filippi turtleneck knit. To be honest, I didn't recognize it at first. The photo was just… awful. πŸ˜‚ None of the charm I saw in the store. The product code made me think "maybe?", but I still wasn't sure.

Then I saw the price. When I bought it, it was US$187. Compared to ₩680,000, there was nothing to think about.

The jacket that wasn't a coat

Why wasn't I sure? Because YOOX had burned me once before, with the very same brand. πŸ˜‚

That time, I had just seen a white wool coat in a store. Then I found an off-white, belted, 100% merino wool Fabiana Filippi piece on YOOX and thought, "That's the one! What a find!" I paid US$277.76 including duties and tax.

When it arrived… yes, it was merino wool. But it was a jacket, not a coat. 😭 I sent it back. Of the US$224 item price, I got US$209 back. The other US$15 was the return fee. Tuition for a jacket I never wore.

And the duties I paid at checkout? In my case, they weren't refunded by the store. I had to apply for the refund through Korean Customs myself. I requested the import declaration from DHL, applied, and got ₩80,040 back in my bank account. I'm someone who chases every last won, so of course I didn't let that go. 😎 (If you live outside Korea, the rules will be different, so check your own country's customs.)

So this time, until the box arrived, I kept thinking, "Is it really the same knit? What if it isn't?" In the end I ordered it anyway, half expecting to be fooled again.

I opened the box… and it was the same knit! πŸŽ‰

The final total was US$231.88: US$187 for the knit, free express shipping and US$44.88 in duties and tax, all paid at checkout. Even with everything included, it was less than half the outlet price.

Sheer, airy and so chic

It's a sheer mohair knit: 58% mohair, 32% polyamide and 10% wool. The fluffy mohair is knitted so lightly that it has a soft, sheer effect.

The shape is boxy and sleeveless with dropped shoulders, finished with a clean white turtleneck. The body is airy and see-through, but the neck keeps it neat, so it never looks sloppy. With a white skirt or wide-leg trousers in the same color family, it looks incredibly chic.

A note on care: dry clean only, no bleach, no dryer. Because it's mohair, I fold it instead of hanging it so it doesn't stretch.

It has that quiet Fabiana Filippi elegance, and I'm so happy wearing it. No second trip to Daejeon, and a much kinder price. This one really is one of my best finds. ✨

What I learned shopping on YOOX

  • Don't judge by the photo. In my experience, YOOX photos don't always do the clothes justice. Check the brand and the product code.
  • Read the details carefully. Like my merino "coat," it's easy to notice the fabric and miss what the item actually is.
  • Look at the total. When I ordered, YOOX showed the total with duties and tax at checkout. Decide based on that number.
  • Prices move a lot. I paid US$187. When I was writing this, I saw the same knit listed at US$156. A few hours later, it was US$280. 😳 If you see a price you like, that's the moment.

Final thoughts

The season was almost over, so I only wore it a few times this year. But I'm already looking forward to next summer with it. 😊

Have you ever found a piece you walked away from somewhere else later? Tell me in the comments.
