My Mom Had Guerlain Météorites. Now I Have My Own.
Today I want to talk about something I'd been quietly wanting for years: Guerlain Météorites, the little pearl powder I remember from my mom's vanity.
When I was little, there was always a round tin of colorful pearls sitting on my mom's vanity. When you opened the lid, it looked less like makeup and more like a jewelry box. I used to sneak a peek and roll the little pearls around when no one was looking. I can't be the only one with that memory, right? 😆
Back then I thought it was something only grown-ups used. Now I'm the grown-up, and I bought one with my own money. It made me a little sentimental.
Funny thing is, I actually went to the store planning to buy a Japanese pressed powder from Elégance. But then I saw the Guerlain pearls and thought, "Eh, it's probably similar." Total impulse buy. Ha.

What I paid
- Where: Shinsegae Department Store, Korea
- Regular price: ₩105,000
- What I paid: ₩101,500, using my Shinsegae reward points
Department store cosmetics in Korea don't go on sale very often, so I always hesitate a little when I have to pay full price. Using my points to knock the price down even a little made me weirdly happy. 😂
What Météorites actually is
"Météorites" means meteorites in French. Tiny pearls gathered together like shooting stars. Romantic from the name alone. ✨
The pearls first launched in 1987. So the tin I remember from my mom's vanity really was this product. Almost 40 years of love. There must be a reason.
The current version has been reformulated, and Guerlain now describes it as a multi-tasking powder that illuminates, sets and corrects the complexion.
Shade 02
I chose shade 02, a mix of soft pastel pearls meant to add an even, fresh glow. Just looking into the tin makes me happy. 🌸
The idea behind the mix is simple: matte and pearly pearls in different soft colors blend together into a glow that feels made just for your skin.

The scent is different now
The moment I opened it, I thought, "Wait, this isn't the smell I remember." 😆 The Météorites on my mom's vanity smelled deeper and heavier. A real "grown-up" scent. As a child, that smell meant my mom was getting ready to go out.
It turns out the scent changed with the reformulation. It's softer now. A little part of me misses the old one, but the new scent is gentle and cozy in its own way. My mom's Météorites and mine smell a little different, and I kind of like that. 💜

How it looks on me
First of all, it's just so cute. A tin full of tiny pearls on the vanity changes the whole mood.
I swirl a big fluffy brush inside the tin and sweep one light layer over my face. The color doesn't come out strong, so it's perfect as a finishing step.
Is it just my imagination that my face looks brighter? 😆 My skin looks a little clearer, with a soft glow. Even if it's just a feeling, a product that makes me happy every time I use it is good enough for me. 💜
Who I'd recommend it to
- Anyone who grew up seeing these pearls on a mom's vanity
- Anyone who prefers a soft glow over heavy powder
- Anyone looking for something pretty enough to simply sit on the vanity
- And anyone who, like me, has started to understand what "dull skin" really means with age...
Final thoughts
I only bought one powder, but it felt like a childhood memory came home with it.
Do you have a beauty product you remember from your mom's vanity? I'd love to hear about it in the comments. 💬
