I Didn't Want the Alhambra. Here's Why I Chose Louis Vuitton Blossom
When I decided to buy a necklace, I wanted to go a little off the beaten path.
So many people around me wear the Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra. It's beautiful, but if I bought one too, I'd just be wearing the same thing as everyone else. So I ruled out the Alhambra from the start and compared other brands instead.
The ones I seriously considered
Dior Rose des Vents. This was my first choice. I already have the Rose des Vents ring and earrings, so I really wanted to complete the set with the necklace. But looking closely, the necklace has a beaded border around the motif with a single diamond in the center. It's pretty, but I wanted a piece with more diamonds, so it fell a little short for me.
Bulgari Divas' Dream. Its fan motif is inspired by the Roman mosaics of the Baths of Caracalla, set with mother-of-pearl and diamonds. Truly elegant and beautiful. It looked perfect with tailored outfits, but I felt it wouldn't quite fit my more casual days, so I let it go this time.
Tiffany HardWear Link. The medium size makes the chain itself shine more than the small. But that also makes it a bit too much for everyday wear. I didn't cross it off, though. It's on my "someday" list.
So I kept looking, and in the end, I chose the Louis Vuitton Blossom. On the pendant I chose, the whole flower motif is set with diamonds, so even among "diamond" pieces, it has far more sparkle and presence.

A little about Blossom
Blossom is Louis Vuitton's jewelry line built around its iconic Monogram Flower. Its signature is a small star-shaped flower motif in 18K gold set with diamonds, and it comes in several pendant styles, like the BB Star and the Sun pendant, so you can choose what suits you.
I'd heard it works with anything, from jeans and a white T-shirt to a dress for a dressier occasion. After wearing mine for a few years, I can tell you that's absolutely true.
Years later, I still haven't met anyone wearing the same one
It's been a while since I bought it, and amazingly, I've never once run into someone wearing the same necklace. Skipping the Alhambra really paid off.
I get compliments on it quite often, too. Because the whole flower is set with diamonds, it really sparkles in the light, and I think that quietly catches people's eyes. The sales associate emphasized the sparkle when I bought it, and years later, it still shines beautifully every time it catches the light.
And it simply works with everything. Casual days, slightly dressed-up days, it fits right in. I sometimes wonder how one necklace can be this versatile.

Care: once a year, but plan ahead
I send it in for Louis Vuitton's cleaning service once a year. One thing to know: once you drop it off, it can be about a month before you hear back. So give yourself plenty of time and don't send it right before an occasion you want to wear it for.
And yes, the price
I have to mention the price. It wasn't this high when I bought it. Just last month it was in the mid-₩7 million range in Korea, and when I checked again recently, it was already ₩8,290,000.
Seeing how much it's gone up over the past few years, and even within a single month, genuinely surprised me. I guess this is one of those pieces where waiting doesn't necessarily make the decision any easier. ðŸ˜

Finding my own answer
Rather than wearing the same piece as everyone else, I enjoy comparing my options and finding my own answer. That process is half the fun for me.
The Alhambra is beautiful. I just realized that, for me, choosing something a little less obvious made the necklace feel more personal.
