My Daughter's Pandora Bracelet Became Our Travel Journal
My husband is often busy with work, so over the years, my daughter and I have ended up taking quite a few trips together, just the two of us.
We both love shopping, fashion, and travel, so honestly, there's no better travel buddy. And somewhere along the way, the charms on my daughter's Pandora bracelet started to multiply.
Today, I want to look at those charms one by one and revisit our mother-daughter trips along the way.
Charms have been used for generations as little reminders of places and moments. Pandora gave that old idea a more modern twist: instead of keeping one fixed charm bracelet, you can keep adding, moving, and changing the charms as your life changes.
Pandora also releases charms for different countries and cities, so whenever we travel, we stop by the local Pandora store to see what's new. It's become a little ritual for the two of us.

| London, Hong Kong, Macau, Kyoto. Our trips, in miniature. |
It started with a single globe
When my daughter first bought her Pandora bangle, it had no charms and looked a little plain. So the first one she chose was a blue globe with a tiny heart. It's not a city charm but part of a classic line about travel itself.
Looking back, there couldn't have been a better start. After that, every trip added another charm around that little globe.
London: the city that gave us three charms
We brought home an unusual number of charms from the UK: a suitcase with the Union Jack, a red double-decker bus in bold Union Jack colors, and a globe engraved with the British flag. Three charms from one city. I guess that tells you how much fun we had in London.
Whenever I see the double-decker bus, I remember those days wandering around the city. The details of a trip fade over time, but when you wear it on your wrist, the memories come back just when you're about to forget them.
Hong Kong: the Peak Tram and the night view
From Hong Kong, we brought home a charm of the famous red Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak. Next to it sits a coin-shaped charm showing the sparkling night skyline.
I can still picture the city lights spreading out the window as we rode the tram up and down the hill.
Macau: a red lion dance
In Macau, we picked something a little special: a red and gold charm inspired by a lion dance mask. It turned out not to be a city souvenir at all, but a limited edition for Lunar New Year. Still, it matched Macau's bright red streets so well that it naturally became "our Macau charm."
A souvenir doesn't have to capture a city perfectly. If it holds the mood of that moment, that's enough.
Kyoto: a lucky cat from Isetan
In Kyoto, we found a golden maneki-neko, a Japanese lucky cat, at the Isetan department store. With one paw raised and that smiling face, it was so cute that we stood there staring at it for ages before deciding.
Browsing Japanese department stores like Isetan is always a highlight of our trips to Japan, and this charm brings back that happy shopping day every time.
And a few we bought just because they're pretty
Mixed in with the travel charms are a few that have nothing to do with any city. The Disney Halloween edition Mickey was simply too cute, so we bought it at Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam. The charm with the sun and moon side by side was my daughter's own pick, purely because she loved the design.
I think these make the bracelet feel more natural. If it were only travel souvenirs, it would read like a very tidy travel log. With a few "just because" charms mixed in, it truly becomes a bracelet she collected because she loves it.

A whole journal on one wrist
Going through the charms one by one, I realized that every trip we've taken together is on this one bracelet. Turning these tiny charms over in my fingers brings those days back more vividly than flipping through a photo album.
I'm already wondering where we'll go next, and which charm we'll bring home.
